A Collection of Crappy Cat Creations

I’ve been flicking through my old sketchbooks, and guess what I found more sketches and drawings of cats! Quelle Surprise, I hear you cry!

These ones, like the previous cats studies, didn’t take very long, hence their crappy look! I’m not too proud of them in all honesty, but I’m enjoying adding my work to this sketch blog as each draw holds a memory. These make me think of being in the art studio trying to work out what the heck I’m going to do with all this cat lines! Haha…I need to track down the products of these studies…they involved line drawings of cats, lost in tartan. What a concept to behold!

Anyway…on with the studies…

Further Feline Figures and Forms

Guess what? I found more cat studies from my sketchbooks! I know I have absolutely loads of cat sketches scattered throughout my artbooks.

My final project at the Cambridge School of Art was based around lines from the feline form – which is one of the reasons I have so many cat studies amongst my sketch books…the other reason is because I love cats!

More Cat Studies…

I like cats. Cats are cool. The way they elegantly move; light and slinky. I like the way they leap to high places effortlessly, and stretch into all manner of shapes as they sleep. For interesting shape making, and form creation, cats are the perfect subject. Perhaps twee, but who cares.

Here are some more of my cat studies I put quickly put together when trying to find the most interesting shapes to create a final piece.

Some of these studies are done in a matter of seconds, other took a bit longer. The quicker I worked, the easier I was able to find the flow and dynamics of the movement. Plus, as any cat lover will tell you, they can move pretty fast, and only tend to stay still if they’re taking a snooze.

Ignore the little “APR 23” at the bottom of the pics, that’s just hypstamatic being annoying. I know this is, at present, a cat centric blog, but dog lovers, you’re welcome here too 😉

I love receiving comments, so please drop me a note below and let me know what you think…and if you like what you see, you can always send me a tip through Paypal, by clicking here

Thanks. Marc 🙂

Cat Studies

To kick off my sketch blog, I thought I’d share one of my favourite subjects to draw: Cats. For this particular project, I was drawing inspiration from my favourite artist, Franz Marc. He was a Fauve, and an all round colour fiend.

I’ll be adding more sketches to this blog every week. I’ll also post some images of the final pieces, that these studies helped to produce.

In the mean time, if you like what you see, you can always send me a tip through Paypal, by clicking here

Thanks. Marc 🙂
